Where to be When the Fight Starts

A very good friend once pointed out, "The best place to be in a fight, is someplace else."

Years have passed, since he first shared that advice.

A lot of things have changed.

I've learned a lot from some very skilled practitioners of self protection techniques.

One thing they all agree on is, my friend's words remain as true, today, as the first day he spoke them.

Grant Cunningham is one of my favorite writers, on the subject.

Cunningham's article (following) is worth sharing.

The Best Defense is Still Not Being There

Grant Cunningham

A few weeks back I wrote an article on why I donít entertain the notion of ďwhat-ifĒ scenarios.  If you havenít read it, you should.

On a somewhat related note, I also donít entertain the notion of the foregone conclusion scenario.  Itís the one that presupposes a specific outcome or a specific event in an effort to support a particular conclusion.  For instance, I was going through my reading file last week and came across an article from a shooting instructor that told the readers they were going to be in a gunfight tomorrow, and asked whether they were ready for it.

Thatís a lot of assumption just to sell a shooting class.

Train like your life depends on it.
