OK - here's how it goes:

FYI-Concealed Carry

Please pass this on to all the other retired guys and gun owners... Thanks

From a Vietnam Vet and retired Police Officer:

I had a doctors appointment at the local VA clinic yesterday and found out something very interesting that I would like to pass along. While going through triage before seeing the doctor, I was asked at the end of the exam, three questions:

1. Did I feel stressed?
2. Did I feel threatened?
3. Did I feel like doing harm to someone?

The nurse then informed me, that if I had answered yes to any of the questions, I would have lost my concealed carry permit as it would have gone into my medical records and the VA would have reported it to Homeland Security.  Looks like they are going after the vets first.

Other gun people like retired law enforcement will probably be next.  Then when they go after the civilians, what argument will they have?  Be forewarned and be aware.

The Obama administration has gone on record as considering veterans and gun owners potential terrorists. Whether you are a gun owner veteran or not, you've been warned.

If you know veterans and gun owners, please pass this on to them. Be very cautious about what you say and to whom.

Before I go any farther, please understand that I'm not saying that (1) the questions were not asked, or (2) a VA nurse did not make the statement regarding the CHL.  That's what makes this type of junk work.  You take a little bit of truth, and use that truth as the basis for the lie.

The lie is that a veteran's affirmative answer to any of the questions would result in the loss of a concealed handgun license.  It would not.

While there are certain psychiatric conditions that can affect eligibility for a Texas CHL, it takes a lot more than a "yes" answer to any of the three questions asked above.  More information can be found in TEXAS GOVERNMENT CODE Sec. 411.172  (ELIGIBILITY).

These emails usually end, "Be very cautious ..."  My advice is to be very cautious of emails that ask you to "send this to every gun owner in the known universe."

Most of the time, these emails are forwarded [to me] by well intentioned friends.  I received the message, shown above, from over 40 folks in less than three days.  I apologize for some of my rather blunt responses.  Hopefully this will prove helpful to those whose only wish is to help keep us all up to date on what's going on with CHL.
